Labour Senator Lorraine Higgins is requesting the Minister for Education and Skills, Ruairi Quinn to implement a policy that will assist in the safety and wellbeing of teenagers, by having all secondary schools books printed with suicide prevention and anti-bullying helpline information on their back covers.

A ward at St Brigid’s Hospital in Ballinasloe has been upgraded at a cost of half a million euro. The project involved the upgrading of bedrooms and en suite facilities, the provision of additional bathrooms and decorating of the main ward area together with the purchase of new furniture and equipment for patients.
