HSE says Mayor’s A&E ‘hellhole’ allegation is untrue

The HSE West has rejected an allegation by City Mayor Padraig Conneely that University Hospital Galway’s A&E department is a “ hellhole”.

The local health authority said his comment was “untrue” and “showed little respect for hospital staff working to provide a quality service in difficult circumstances”.

Man threatens to kill garda when he gets out, court hears

A Galway man who threatened to kill a garda when he got out of jail has been remanded in custody to appear at Harristown District Court tommorrow.

Paul McDonagh (31) with an address at Tullow Land, Tullow, Carlow, but formerly of 60 Innishannagh Park, was brought before Judge Mary Fahy at Galway District Court last Monday after being arrested on foot of a bench warrant issued last October.
