The Galway City Council must clarify if it is responsible for providing quality drinking water to Old Mervue and update residents on progress in obtaining grants for the connection of new pipes to individual houses.
This is the view of Independent Cllr Declan McDonnell who said there is “some ambiguity” regarding who is ultimately responsible for the provision of drinking water to the tap.

The revival in knitting is well and truly under way and they were astounded at the response to the article in the Galway Advertiser last November. As a result they are now teaching beginners and intermediate knitters and Niamh has been busy designing new patterns for the classes.

News that Canadian telecommunications giant Nortel has filed for creditor protection has raised fears for the future of 300 jobs at the company’s Galway facility.
The Toronto-based multinational announced yesterday that is it seeking creditor protection in the US, Canada, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. The move came one day before it was due to make a payment of US$107 million in interest on outstanding loans which are believed to be close to US $4billion.
