Having recently launched a Home Care Service, The Village Care Centre will offer free home care packages to suitable candidates over the coming fortnight. The service will offer three two hourly visits per week for the next two weeks.

The group provides opportunities for people who stutter to discuss issues around their stammering, as well as providing mutual support. Supermac’s, Eyre Square, will hold a collection day on Saturday, December 5 for Sports Aid. Voluntary organisation Sports Aid will pass on sports gear and equipment that is not being used. The sports gear and equipment will be passed on to those who need it but may not have the resources to purchase it themselves, including schools, sports clubs, and individuals. The collection will take place from 12.30pm with prizes and surprise guests in store on the day.

In one final flurry to mark the 40th anniversary of the release of MGM’s multi-million dollar production, Alfred the Great, the Cinemobile announces that it will screen a special showing of the movie on location where many of the famous battle scenes were filmed at Castlehackett four decades ago.

On Sunday November 29 at 6.30pm in the car park at Caherlistrane’s GAA pitch, scores of people from near and far who took part in Alfred the Great, and who may have never yet seen themselves in it will now have a chance to view the film .
