Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to come forward following a late night fracas in Eyre Square at the weekend.

The incident, which involved three men, occurred between 12.30am and 12.40am on Sunday. One of the men was about five feet four inches tall and wore a red hooded top. Another was about five feet eight inches tall and wore a light blue top and navy tracksuit bottoms. The third man was about five feet eight inches tall and wore a light blue T-shirt with a white design on the front.

The heart of Loughrea needs its arteries unclogged according to local Fine Gael representatives Sen Ciaran Cannon and Cllr Mogie Maher, who have called for a ban on heavy goods vehicles in the town centre.

The pair said this week that the town centre is still experiencing heavy HGV traffic almost five years after the completion of the bypass, and both traders and shoppers have asked that a ban on HGVs be put in place.

Indiana choir to sing for AIDS West

The University of Southern Indiana Chamber Choir and the Rowan Tree Irish Traditional Band will perform a free concert at St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church on Saturday May 15 at 8pm.

Under the direction of Daniel Craig, the choir will sing sacred and secular pieces and will include music by Monteverdi, Sweelinck, Berkey, and Irish traditional songs. The event is in aid of AIDS West.
