The Ban Balfour Beatty Consortium has been chosen as the preferred tender for the Gort to Tuam PPP motorway. Construction will begin in the New Year for completion by the end of 2014.
The M17/M18 Gort to Tuam PPP motorway will be 57kms long - 53km motorway and 4km Tuam Bypass - and will connect to the M6 motorway east of Oranmore

A wonderful evening of artistic celebration has been promised for the opening of the 33rd Clifden Community Arts Week which takes place tonight at 8pm in the Connemara West Leisure Centre.
Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Sport Mary Hanafin will be on hand to officially open the festival and lend her support. Speaking about Clifden Community Arts Week Minister Hanafin said: “It holds a special place in the rich calendar of festivals and events. Now in its 33rd year, the country’s longest running community arts festival promises 10 days of highly emotive, energetic, and world-aclaimed national and international artistic talent combined with many Galway, Clifden, and Connemara based artists. However the crew recently undertook a renovation to a nursing home, where the owner wanted the rooms updated and modernised and yet they had to conform to standards and be very functional, with of course cleaniness and comfort a high priority.
