A return trip to Ireland at Christmas was looking to be beyond the family’s financial means which was upsetting for them given that Mr Mentane was forcibly absent from his daughter’s first birthday and his wife’s graduation since the move.

Park and ride begins at Ballybrit on Saturday

The Christmas park and ride service at Ballybrit begins this Saturday at 7am, and motorists can park at Ballybrit Racecourse and get bussed to and from the city centre for the all–in fare of €2 per car.

The service will provide buses every 15 minutes from the Racecourse to its drop off point at the Galway Coach Station on Fairgreen Road, close to the Galway Continental Market at Eyre Square.
