Sterling Engineering, a provider of outsourced engineering services for manufacturing companies across medical technologies, life science, automotive, food and beverage industries has announced that it plans to create 50 jobs in Galway with the establishment of its EMEA HQ in the city.

Galway’s 100 Voice Choir are set to debut on An Taibhdhearc stage this November as part of a live music performance event in aid of a new Galway based charity, The Migrant Collective.

The group, which consists of over 100 singers who recently came together to join forces with members of Rise Choir, are set to perform in the Taibhdhearc Theatre on Friday November 3 at 7pm as part of a solo concert by long standing choir member and local singer Laura McDermott to raise much needed funds for those in direct provision in Galway City and county.

Mounting fears that Salthill Garda station will soon face the axe got a reprieve this week, with a dramatic U-turn decision on closing the busy barracks at night.

Councillors, TDs and senators attending a sitting of Galway City Council’s Joint Policing Committee on Monday were shocked by Galway’s police chief’s announcement that from November, the Dalysfort Road station would close to the public nightly from 10pm to 7am.

Galway City Council first authority to eliminate road diesel in larger fleet

Galway City Council will become the first local authority in the country to eliminate road diesel in its larger fleet, by transitioning to Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) as a renewable fuel source. HVO Eliminates up to 90% of net Carbon Dioxide emissions and reduces harmful pollutants such as Nitrogen Dioxide and particulate matter, which can cause asthma and impaired lung function and can make it difficult to breath for some of our citizens.
