While out canvassing last week, Galway City Central Independent candidate Mike Geraghty was pleased to be receiving a courteous reception on the doorsteps. However there was one exception.

Coinciding with the 125th anniversary of the GAA and Maree/Oranmore GAA La na gClub, Oranmore local electoral area candidate Michael Eames has invited former Kerry footballing great Dep Jimmy Deenihan to launch his local election campaign.

The launch will take place on Saturday at 9.30pm in the Maree Community Centre. On Sunday, Dep Deenihan will visit Oranmore GAA pitch for the La na gClub family day to meet young GAA, camogie and ladies’ football enthusiasts.
