New speed limits on the outskirts of many villages and small towns and a reduction in the 80kph speed limits on county roads must form part of the new Road Traffic Bill.
This is the view of Fine Gael Galway West TD Paul Connaughton who believes the Bill could be an opportunity to have “a root and branch examination of speed limits as they relate to every town and village in Ireland”.

Galway based marquee company, Magnum Marquee Hire, has been successful in tendering for the contract to provide marquees and temporary structures for the launch of the Western Rail Corridor on Monday March 29.
The company will erect its marquees at Athenry Railway Station, Craughwell Railway Station, Gort Railway Station, and Sixmilebridge Railway Station for the launch, along with a large celebratory marquee at Ennis Railway Station.

Ever wondered how the Volvo Ocean Race Sailors learnt their skills – well they all had to start somewhere. Galway Bay Sailing Club is running its annual Introduction to Sailing Course starting on March 30 at 8pm in its clubhouse in Renville.
This course has been running for a number of years and has proved very popular, each year more than 30 people get together to learn about sailing and how to sail.
