City secondary students want better school bus services

Some 60 per cent of Galway secondary school pupils are unhappy with the city’s bus service citing the lack of buses, lateness, overcrowding, and no dedicated school routes, as being among the problems.

However more than 90 per cent said more should be done to promote the service while 30 per cent said they would “definitely use the bus more” if encouraged.

Candlelight vigil

Irish suicide charity 3Ts will hold a series of candlelight vigils around the country to mark World Suicide Prevention Day next week. A vigil will take place in St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church on Friday September 11 from 8pm to 9pm. The vigil is for family and friends to come together to remember those who have lost their lives through suicide and to raise awareness of the issue of suicide prevention in Ireland.
