N84 collision data highlights need for road upgrade, says Charity

County councillor James Charity has obtained data from An Garda Sìochana confirming that 29 separate collisions have taken place on the N84 Headford Road in the period from January 2016 to date alone.

He said that this data highlights just how dangerous this section of road has become, with the vast majority of accidents taking place on the section between Corrandulla and Galway City.

The event will see 157 young Irish people from 10 to 17 years of age focus and debate on the following themes; environment, economics, food and farming, power and education.

NUI Galway study finds pornography use is associated with sexual aggression

A research study conducted by NUI Galway and Zagreb University in Croatia on 600 Croatian male high school students aged 15-17 over a 20-month period, has found that pornography use is associated with sexual aggression over time but only when people report a pre-disposition to aggression. In isolation, pornography use does not predict sexual aggression.

I would like to register my disgust with the current traffic situation in Galway City, and I would like to know what Galway City Council is doing about it ? I am aware of the existence of a “Galway Transport Strategy”, however, that is going to take years to implement, potentially at considerable cost, and I am firmly of the opinion that the people of Galway want answers to the issue now, not 10 or 15 years down the line.

The Sunday Independent’s Rock Against Homelessness concert in aid of Focus Ireland - now in its fifth year - is heading West. Earlier this year, the show sold-out the Olympia Theatre and saw performances from Camille O’Sullivan, Tommy Fleming, Aidan Gillen, Deirdre O’Kane, Finbar Furey, The Celtic Tenor’s, and Laura Whitmore among others, helping to raise a record total of more than €25,000.
