A new project which is set to rejuvenate the arts industry in east Galway and the midlands, will start with a meeting on February 7 in The Carlton Shearwater Hotel in Ballinasloe at 7pm.
The project, entitled A Time For Change, hopes to raise funding for a purpose built national centre for the arts which will be situated in the midlands. It is hoped to include a national radio station, demo recording studio, art gallery, and video studio as well as being a meeting point for like minded people.

For 2011, HP employees chose the Alan Kerins Project as their Charity of the Year. In November, I had the unique opportunity to visit Zambia to see how the funds raised by HP employees were being applied. Alan himself led a travelling group of 10, all of whom had provided support to the charity.

The proposed new on-road cycle lanes for part of the N6 Bothar na dTreabh should be “the model used for all new lanes across the city”, according to North-West MEP Jim Higgins.
MEP Higgins has welcomed plans by the Galway City Council to remove the current cycle lanes from the Dunnes Stores Terryland stretch of the N6 Bothar na dTreabh, and replace them with new on-road cycle lanes this year.
