A man who presented at the emergency department of UHG for psychiatric admission left the department without supervision and was missing for 36 hours.
The man was in a distressed state as he awaited admission, according to his mother who contacted the Fianna Fáil spokesperson on mental health Colm Keaveney about the incident.

Galway-based coffee chain Mocha Beans have become the first coffee shop chain in the Republic of Ireland to be accredited with the Friendly WiFi symbol and will soon be displaying the ‘Friendly WiFi’ symbol across their stores. This means that their public WiFi service has been checked and verified to meet a minimum level of content filtering making their service safe for children and young people when browsing the internet.
The WiFi Friendly scheme was launched in the UK after concerns were raised by leading child safety charities that children and young people were being put at risk of viewing and accessing inappropriate material when using public WiFi.

NUI Galway will hold a ‘Scientist for a Day’ workshop for children aged 7 to 13 years old on Tuesday, February 16 from 10am-3pm. Organised by three science outreach initiatives based in NUI Galway, Cell EXPLORERS, Eco EXPLORERS and Kitchen Chemistry, the workshop will include a full day of science-related activities such as preparing DNA, observing colourful chemical reactions and working with live exotic animals.
