Burglar sent forward for trial

An Athlone woman accused of allegedly breaking into a Galway city restaurant and stealing cash and other property worth more than €16,000 has been sent forward for trial.

The Galway District Court heard last week how a book of evidence had been served on Martina Ward. The 26-year-old with an address at Apartment 7, Fairfield Court, Montree, Athlone, Westmeath, is charged with entering a building, known as Martine’s Restaurant, Quay Street, Galway, as a tresspasser on November 16, 2008, to commit burglary and theft of €14,851 cash, a Dell XPS laptop valued €1,200, and two ipods valued €200 each.
