NUI Galway to host analysis and discussion event on first 60 days of Trump presidency

The Moore and Whitaker Institutes and the School of Law at NUI Galway will host an event on Wednesday, 22 March, entitled “President Donald Trump: The First Sixty Days and Beyond”. The event will take place in the Emily Anderson Concert Hall (Upper Aula Maxima) at 5.30pm in the University’s Quadrangle.

The panel discussion will feature five speakers who will provide various perspectives - political, human rights, historical, economics and more - on Donald Trump’s election and his time in the White House. This will be followed by an interactive audience question and answer session. A reception with light refreshments will precede the event and begin at 5pm.

Galway-based ACT for Meningitis are a special charity, formed from heartbreak, to ease the heartbreak felt so many families. Its existence is an unbelievable act of selflessness, a sharing and bearing of pain by its founder Siobhan Carroll and her husband Noel, who lost their daughter Aoibhe at just four years of age, to this unforgiving illness. The disease they hope to raise awareness of is one that strikes quickly, without much warning and has taken countless lives over the years. This week, another mother who lost a child to meningitis has spoken out about ACT for Meningitis and how they have provided her family with unbelievable support at the most tragic point of their lives.

I was late for a reporting gig at some event in the Crescent and we both ran on the footpath around the corner and crashed into each other, each of us as apologetic as the other. In hindsight, I should have been able to avoid him because as he walked, he sang and so his arrival was flagged well before he appeared.
