Bus ride is big thrill for kids, say organisers as €2 Park and Ride launches for festive season

Galway City Council's Park and Ride Service swings into operation for the Christmas season this Saturday December 3. Catering for workers, shoppers and visitors to the City alike, the first bus departs Ballybrit Racecourse at 7:00am, kickstarting the service, which will shuttle passengers to and from the City Centre every fifteen minutes until 9:30pm Monday to Saturday and from 11:00am to 7:00pm on Sundays.

Don’t hit the least well off the hardest in tough Budget

Galway Fine Gael TDs have come out against proposed cuts to the Brothers of Charity services and insisted that next month’s Budget must not hit the most vulnerable or least well of in society the hardest.

Fine Gael TDs Brian Walsh (Galway West) and Paul Connaughton (Galway East) have acknowledged that Budget 2012 “will be harsh”, but they are calling for fairness in how it is implemented.
