Mercedes-Benz is set to introduce 22 new models into the Irish market throughout 2020. Of these, six will be conventionally powered, while the other 16 will be made up of new PHEV plug-in electric hybrid models.

Peugeot claims the new 508 hybrid range, which arrives here early next year, has passed stringent certification tests under the new WLTP protocol with impressive results. And under Ireland’s Budget 2020 announcements, the range will therefore qualify for the newly calculated grant thresholds.
While prices and specifications have not yet been announced., under new rules, plug-in hybrids must now emit less than 50g/km CO2 and travel more than 50km in all-electric mode to qualify for the €5,000 SEAI grant and €2,500 VRT relief.

Voted on by a jury of Ireland’s commercial vehicle journalists, the annual Continental Tyres Irish Van of the Year Award acknowledges productivity, safety, comfort and fuel efficiency in the latest van technology.

Skoda has released a design sketch providing the first glimpse of the new Octavia. The new design language ensures the fourth generation of the best-selling model in the history of the company will have a much more emotive look. Skoda claims it will also combine compact dimensions with a generous amount of interior space.
The design sketches show the Octavia liftback’s elongated, flowing silhouette seems to give it a coupé-like roofline. However, this is not visible from a picture of a heavily disguised version being tested on public roads.

Almost one in 10 Irish motorists intend on making the change to an electric vehicle when they next purchase a car, a recent survey has found.
In response to an AA Car Insurance survey, which it says was sent to some 7,000 Irish motorists, 9.21 per cent stated they were "very likely" to switch to an electric vehicle when next changing their car. Meanwhile, a further 23.26 per cent of respondents stated they were somewhat likely to avoid purchasing a petrol or diesel vehicle when next buying a car.
