Nominations are now closed for the JCI Galway Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2011 Awards which this year will see entrants compete for the largest prize package on offer for any entrepreneurial award in the region.
The Junior Chamber International Galway Young Entrepreneur competition is now in its 13th year and has become one of the most important events for the Galway business community. The competition aims to recognise, encourage, and reward innovative entrepreneurs aged between 18 and 40 in Galway city and county, who contribute to the community, create much valued employment, and make a difference to the local economy.

WEEE Ireland (waste, electrical and electronic equipment), the compliance scheme for electrical waste and battery recycling, has held a series of WEEE Wagon collection events across Galway county throughout September, and these will continue into October. These smaller collection days supported by the Galway County Council allow people from towns and villages across the county to get rid of any household electrical equipment and batteries in a safe and environmentally friendly manner.
On Tuesday, the WEEE Wagon will be in Abbeyknockmoy from 10am to 1pm and Monivea from 4pm to 7pm. On Thursday next October 6, it will visit Clarinbridge from 10am to 1pm and Kinvara from 4pm to 7pm. October 11 will see trips to Abbey between 10am and 1pm before moving on to Woodford between 4pm and 7pm. On October 13 it will be in Kiltormer from 10am to 1pm and Eyrecourt from 4pm to 7pm, while October 18 sees services in Williamstown from 10am to 1pm and Glenamaddy from 4pm to 7pm.
