Capital Plan Review allows Moycullen bypass to move towards construction

The N59 Moycullen Bypass will be able to move to construction on a phased basis due to what a leading Galway politicians called “the strong focus on the west and the Atlantic Economic Corridor” in the Department of Transport’s Capital Plan Review.

The Minister for Community Development, Natural Resources and Digital Development, and Fine Gael Galway West TD, Seán Kyne, has welcomed the Capital Plan Review’s provision of an additional €486 million for road projects and programmes for the period 2018 – 2021, which brings the total investment to €4.26 billion. This will allow several Galway related projects move to construction on a phased basis, including the N59 Moycullen Bypass. Design and planning is also continuing on the N6 Galway City Ring Road and the N21/N69 Adare to Foynes.

“All of these projects contribute to the Atlantic Economic Corridor through which we are working to strengthen connectivity along the Western Seaboard and connect the economic clusters and catchments and the communities of the region,” said Minister Kyne. “These projects enhance local infrastructure, improve connectivity, attract investment, support job creation, and ultimately contribute to an improved quality of life in communities in the west, northwest, and southwest.”
