Dixons' Irish stores to change to Currys

British electrical retailer DSG International is to re-name all of its Dixons stores in Ireland under the Currys brand.

The change brings the total number of Currys outlets to 17.

The company says the Dixons brand will now be purely an internet retailer, in line with a strategy adopted in the UK two years ago. Currys.ie and PC World.ie will also be launched later in the year as part of a multi-channel strategy for these two brands.

DSG also said today that the Dixons store in Jervis Street in Dublin will become a PC World store.

The company says it plans to open a new Currys store in the Leinster area soon, creating 25 new jobs. It opened a new store in Dundalk, Co Louth last month.
