Are you male, over 35 and would like to be more active? The Galway Sports Partnership is running a non-competitive/social physical activity programme just for men
Participants are guided through a 12-week programme to improve the level of fitness and general well-being. And it is free.
The programme is particularly targeted at those who do little or no exercise at present.
The project is part of a national study being carried out by Waterford IT, Carlow IT, and the HSE into the benefits of exercise on men's health. Three areas have been chosen for the programme, Ballinasloe, Oughterard and Doughiska.
The partnership hopes to have at least 30 men in each area to take part. The programme is designed so anyone can participate, regardless how long ago they were physically active.
The partnership will hold three information evenings:
Oughterard - the Boat Inn, Tuesday September 1 at 7.30pm.
Ballinasloe - Guillanes hotel, Wednesday September 2 at 7.30pm.
Doughiska - Cumasú Centre, Doughiska Rd (formerly Racing Lodge ) on Thursday September 3 at 8pm.
