The Galway branch of Ireland’s largest independent tyre retailer, Modern Tyresm is offering motorists peace of mind this spring with a free tyre safety check.
With 40 outlets nationwide, Modern Tyres will identify the importance of keeping tyres at the correct pressure and ensure they are legal and in good condition.
Low tyre pressures can cost the driver more money in fuel as well as pump more CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.
Modern Tyres says it is important to understand that it is the air inside the tyre that carries the weight, not the tyre itself. Correct air pressure is vital to ensure a tyre can carry the weight and perform the way in which it is designed.
Recent government figures show under-inflated or defective tyres are responsible for more than a third of all road crashes resulting in injury. These figures also reveal that 12 per cent of cars and vans have at least one defective tyre and another 12 per cent have at least one badly worn tyre worn below 2mm.
“By offering motorists a free tyre safety check, hopefully it will make our roads a safer place,” a spokesperson says.
Modern Tyres stocks all leading brands of tyre, including Michelin, Continental, Bridgestone, Goodyear, Dunlop, Pirelli, Vredestein, Kumho and Mohawk.
