Galway ladies prepare to take on top teams in division one

A new season begins for Galway Ladies footballers on Sunday in their first campaign in the National Football League division one.

Winners of division two last season and semi-finalists in the All Ireland championship, the Galway Ladies will be hoping to build on that success in the top division this season.

Galway will have five home league games this season, and first up in the Tesco Home Grown NFL is a visit of Laois to Tuam Stadium on Sunday (2pm ).

Having completed last season’s division two campaign as clear winners - unbeaten in all games - the Supermac's-sponsored senior ladies under the management of Kevin Reidy will enter this new season with confidence as they face Dublin, Monaghan, Tyrone, Kerry, Mayo, Cork and Laois.

Galway Ladies will be hoping for strong support on Sunday in Tuam to kickstart this exciting new season with a victory.

Normal entry fee is €8 for adults (children free ), while a season ticket for all home games costs €30. Tickets will be on sale at Tuam Stadium on Sunday.

Home games: Round 1, February 1 v Laois; Round 2, February 8 v Dublin; Round 3, February 22 v Tyrone; Round 5, March 15 v Kerry; Round 6, March 29 v Monaghan.
