Two charged after €100,000 Ballinasloe drugs seizure

Two men charged in connection with the seizure of €100,000 worth of drugs at a Ballinasloe grow house at the weekend have been remanded in custody to appear before Harristown District Court tomorrow.

Polish natives Grzegorz Rola and Marcin Smolka, both aged in their 30s and with an address at 10 Kilgarve Court, Ballinasloe, were brought in custody before Loughrea District Court on Sunday charged with illegal cultivation of cannabis, contrary to Section 17 of the Misuse of Drugs Act. No application for bail was made and they were further remanded in custody.

In a planned operation gardai searched a house at Kilgarve Court on the morning of Saturday, August 2. During the search gardai discovered 120 cannabis plants being cultivated as well as a quantity of harvested cannabis. The men were arrested and detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking ) Act 1996 at Ballinasloe and Loughrea Garda Stations
