Huge interest in city properties at O’Donnellan & Joyce auction

The property at Gloves sold for €31,000 while the property at Lenamore sold for €44,000. These properties attracted more than 10 bidders each.

The next property to be auctioned was No 25 Ballybrit Court, Ballybrit, a semidetached residence converted into two apartments which were in need of refurbishment throughout, which sold for €95,000.

The agent had a number of parcels of land that went under the hammer on the day. The first was 4.5 acres at Barna, located 0.5 mile from the village with no planning permission in place. The lands attracted a lot of interest and sold for €78,000, which was above the guide of €50,000. The next lands were 15 acres at Knock, Co Mayo, which previously had planning permission for development, and sold for €87,000. The third parcel was 13 acres at Athlone, Co Westmeath, which currently has no planning permission; this sold for €116,000.

The next property was a development with three detached houses and potential for 19 other homes at Derrymullen, Ballinasloe, offered for sale as one lot. A number of interested parties chased the property and it was eventually sold for €108,000.

No 51 The Maples, Ballyhaunis, Co Mayo, sold on the day for €45,000. This was a three bedroom semidetached residence in excellent condition.

The final two properties of the day were located at No 17 and No 22 Westview, Cloonfad, Co Roscommon. Both these homes attracted enthusiastic bidders who were eager to take advantage of the exceptional value as both homes had an AMV of €15,000. No 17, a four bedroom semidetached residence in need of refurbishment, sold for €29,000. No 22, a three bedroom semidetached home in mint condition throughout, sold for €33,000.

A number of properties are under active negotiation following the auction, including a site at Gort comprising 13 acres with an AMV of €65,000; No 169 Dun na Coiribe, Headford Road, a four bed detached home with an AMV of €220,000; and The Gift Shop, Athenry, a retail unit with four apartments overhead, with an AMV of €100,000.

One property was withdrawn and is still available to the market; this is No 109 Sliabh Carron, Gort, a four bedroom semidetached home with an AMV of €79,000.

According to Colm O’Donnellan of O’Donnellan & Joyce the company was delighted with the tremendous interest, not only locally but nationally and internationally, with a large number of Irish people overseas bidding as they watched the auction live online.
