Free history conference at NUIG

The lives of tenants, estate employees, and landlords will be examined at a two day history conference taking place in NUI Galway next week.

Landed Estates & Irish Society will take place in NUIG’s Moore Institute on Thursday June 13 and Friday 14. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.

There will be 16 speakers across the event, including Prof William Smyth of UCC, editor of the recently-published Atlas of the Great Irish Famine, and Prof Philip Bull of La Trobe University, Melbourne, as well as a number of young researchers at NUIG, including Joanne McEntee, Conor Montague, and Laura Vickers.

The conference is organised by the Irish Landed Estates Project based at the Moore Institute and is supported by the Higher Education Authority.

The full programme is available from conference organiser, Dr John Cunningham, through [email protected]
