Galway inventor aims to clean up your recycling with Brustibin

Methods for dispensing rubbish is set to be enhanced by the introduction of the Brustibin, designed by Galwayman Michael Prendergast. This new device, currently being manufactured in Longford, aims to revolutionise how rubbish is removed from residential and commercial units in a practical, efficient, and cost effective way.

BrustiBins allow users to discard all their rubbish in the one container but still ensure that they can abide by the recycling principles. It can be used in a stand alone fashion or can be integrated into 400mm wide kitchen fittings and is designed to reduce the foul odours and leachate most commonly associated with bins.

The BrustiBin consists of three compartments to accept compostable, landfill, and recyclable waste with a 70 litre capacity. By disassembling the device, the BrustiBin is dishwasher compatible to make the cleaning and maintenance of the BrustiBin more convenient and thorough. The robust and durable construction material means that there is no rust but it is not suitable to handle liquid waste.

Its moisture removal system and drying process coupled with strong ventilation within the BrustiBin leaves the owner with drier and cleaner waste that is cheaper to remove. Ninety five per cent of its internal volume can store the waste and 85 per cent of the space is allocated for recyclable products which corresponds to the statistics which indicate that 85-95 per cent of household waste is recyclable.

The Brustibin is available to buy at Anthony Ryan’s Homestore.
