Set sail on Galway’s seafood trail

To mark the 58th Galway International Oyster and Seafood festival, the public are being invited to set sail on the Seafood Trail and take port at one of the popular Oyster Hot Spots.

Seafood lovers are in for a treat as details of Galway’s Seafood Trail and Oyster Hot Spots are announced by Pallas Foods as part of the festival, taking place throughout the city from Friday September 28 to Sunday 30 September 2012.

A selection of Galway’s most renowned restaurants will be serving the freshest of Galway oysters and seafood creations, including; Artisan Restaurant, Brasserie on the Corner (Eglinton St ), Cava Spanish Tapas Restaurant, Malt House Restaurant, McDonagh’s Seafood House, the Oyster Grill Restaurant, RAW Sushi Restaurant, Vina Mara, and West at the Twelve Hotel. From "au naturel" oysters to more adventurous serving suggestions, the menus will feature a wide range of local seafood prepared with creativity and flair to be uncovered throughout the festival.

From oyster connoisseurs to bivalve virgins, a number of bars, designated as oyster ‘hot spots’, will also be serving fresh Galway oysters, including; Freeney’s Bar, Massimo’s, McSwiggan’s, Tigh Neachtains and the Skeff Bar. The ‘Oyster Hot Spots’ are the perfect locations to tempt your tastebuds and with fresh oysters from as little as €2 each, it’s the perfect seafood taster to suit every palate and pocket.

Cian O’Broin, chairperson of the Galway International Oyster and Seafood Festival, says: “The ethos behind the Seafood Trail and oyster hot spots is to give Galwegian’s and visitors to the city a real taste of the local seafood and to celebrate the rich maritime culture of Galway”

Regis Martin of Pallas Foods is delighted to facilitate this initiative. “We are fortunate to have a wide selection of Galway restaurants and bars set to showcase their delicious seafood menus during the festival in addition to the marquee events.”
