One day Ayurvedic cooking workshops

Ayurveda is a system of natural healing. It is a way of life that educates and empowers us on how to take care of our health and wellbeing by getting to know our unique individual constitution and our natural physical and psychological make-up and tendencies. By guiding us in making changes in our diet and lifestyle Ayurveda can help prevent, treat, and remove both disease and symptoms.

Ayurveda sees food as medicine and places great importance on eating appropriately for your individual constitution to ensure proper digestion and absorption of nutrients. The workshop will be an introduction to Ayurvedic constitutions and appropriate diets, cooking guidelines, the importance of a healthy digestive system, and the introduction of spices. You will learn how to prepare simple delicious vegetarian dishes, chutneys, nourishing drinks, and ghee (clarified butter ). You will also learn simple home cleanses to help rid the body of toxic build up. The workshop includes comprehensive handout, a delicious Ayurvedic lunch, Indian chai, snacks, and refreshments.

The workshops will take place on Saturday March 3, 24, and 31 from 11am to 3pm.

Private cooking workshops can be arranged on request for groups of four or five people and are a great fun way to spend the day with your friends.

Other upcoming workshops include an introductory weekend on April 21 and 22, and an introduction to women’s health on April 28.
