More than €2,000 worth of cannabis found in Oranmore shed, court hears

The case of an Oranmore man accused of illegally cultivating more than €2,000 worth of cannabis plants in a shed has been adjourned.

Jason Donnellan (23 ) with an address at 3 Castle Court, Oranmore, was summoned to appear at Galway District Court recently for drug related offences which include being in possession of cannabis as well as cultivating, without a licence, plants of the genus cannabis - contrary to Section 17 and Section 27 (as amended by Section 7 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1984 ) of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977 - at a former residence in the Cloonarkin Drive area of Oranmore on July 2 2010.

The court heard that it will be alleged a shed at the Cloonarkin Drive location was searched under the Misuse of Drugs Act and gardai discovered a cannabis growing operation, with cannabis plants estimated to be valued at €2,400.

Judge Mary Fahy accepted jurisdiction in the matter and adjourned the case to September 12, 2011, for mention.
