An afternoon with two famous whistleblowers

Mordechai Vanunu and Bradley Manning. To some they are traitors, to others they are courageous whistleblowers.

Mordechai Vanunu is a former Israeli nuclear technician who, citing his opposition to weapons of mass destruction, revealed details of Israel's nuclear weapons programme to the British press in 1986.

Bradley Manning is a US army soldier who was arrested in May 2010 in Iraq on suspicion of having passed restricted material to the website WikiLeaks. He currently awaits a hearing to decide whether he will face a court martial.

This Saturday at 3pm the Town Hall Theatre studio will feature a reading, with music by Clare Sawtell, of Felicity Heathcote’s one-act play The Man With No Secrets, an allegorical drama based on the experience of Mordechai Vanunu.

There will also be a screening of a the 2003 BBC documentary on the Vanunu case, Israel’s Secret Weapon and Collateral Murder, the real-time Iraq-war atrocity-video, allegedly conveyed to Wikileaks by Bradley Manning.

The event is sponsored by the Galway Alliance Against War, The Western Writers’ Centre, and Women in Media & Entertainment.
