Discover the naked truth at the museum

Claiming Our Future will host the latest of its naked truth discussions on Monday evening at 6pm in the cafe of Galway City Museum. This series of talks offer a frank look at current economic situation and are attended by well respected guest speakers. This week Richard Douthwaite from Feasta will be there to launch his new book while Sinead Pentony of TASC will also be attendance.

Claiming Our Future is a burgeoning organisation which has attracted widespread interest since its foundation. Last year saw its first nationwide conference which attracted 1,100 patrons to the RDS, and a follow up seminar focusing on income inequality takes place in Galway on May 28. The group’s priorities and values focus on reforming the way we govern ourselves, our banking system, and our public services to create a more sustainable economy and a more equal and solid society.

Ann Irwin, the group’s Galway administrator, explains: “It’s a significant movement, the first of its kind and the biggest in the country. We are founded on six priority principles and incorporate five core values. We understand that the perpetual economic growth we experienced is not sustainable and we need to find a sustainable alternative.

“Our events are not seminars in the traditional sense, they are much more deliberative experiences. During the naked truth series, we are stripping away the spin and looking at economics in a true light”

Monday evening’s event is free to attend, although donations are welcome. For more information, call 091-779030, email [email protected] or log onto www.claimingourfuture.ie
