Three Galway youngsters are representing Ireland on the Irish u-15 ladies’ soccer team competing in the Bob Doherty Cup in Wales this week.

Salthill Devon’s Katie Carter and Cadhla Gillen, and Colga FC’s Lisa Casserly travelled on Sunday with the Irish team to face their counterparts from Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.

Casserly, who has played with Colga FC since she began her soccer career, has also captained the Connacht provincial squad. From Ballinderreen, she is currently an invaluable member of the Colga FC -16 squad, the Galway District league squad, and the Connaught u-16 team.

Also called up to the Irish u-17 squad is another Colga FC player, Keara Cormican. She will take part in an international training camp in Leicestershire, England, in preparation for Irish Internationals later this year.
