Druid invites you to come on board

Earlier this year, Druid launched a new Members and Friends scheme to celebrate the company’s 35th birthday and one of the benefits of becoming a Friend is that you can get closer to what happens on the Druid stage while also supporting the ongoing work of Druid. From as little as €25 you can become a Druid Member and Friends can choose from four categories, starting at €99.

For their production of The Silver Tassie, Druid has a very exciting evening planned for Friends of Druid on Thursday September 2. After the performance Friends will have the opportunity to meet the cast and go on a backstage tour and see how everything comes together during the show. This is an epic staging and Tim Smith, Druid’s General Manager, uses the analogy of a lego set – “only much bigger” - to describe how the company will fit all four acts into the wings of the theatre.

If you aren’t already a Friend of Druid and would like to enhance your theatre going experience, you can sign up before September 2 and come along after the show. Drinks and canapes will also be served on the night.

At what was a very special event in the Town Hall Theatre last May, From Galway to Broadway and Back Again, Garry Hynes spoke about how much Druid values the support of Friends – “From the very beginning Druid has been lucky in the friends we have gathered around us. In those early years, people supported us not only by coming to see our shows but by giving to us both financially and in other ways too numerous to mention. When we started a formal Friends scheme in 2001 many more took the opportunity to help Druid in a more structured way and we thank those of you who continue to support us today”. She also went on to say that “every time you make a contribution to Druid by buying a ticket for a show or donating to our Friends Scheme it helps us to do more”.

Druid is an eligible charity and tax relief may be available on your donation. The relief differs depending on your taxable status (PAYE, Self Assessed or Company ) and the minimum qualifying amount is €250.

You can become a Friend online at www.druid.ie/sign-up or you can contact Sinead McPhillips on 091 568 660 or email [email protected] and request a Friends form.
