Mervue face another tough test tomorrow evening when they hosttop-of-the -table Derry in their first division league fixture (7.45pm )..

Manager Tom French has a full squad from which to select, boosting Mervue’s hopes of getting something from this match. However French says his team “will have to be at our best to get anything”.

“These are the games that we all look forward to being involved in and if we can get a result, it would be great. Progress in the squad has been good in recent games and I feel that if we can put the same squad out for a run of games, we will improve vastly.”

French had no complaints over last Friday’s reverse to Waterford.

“We were beaten by a superior outfit on the night. That said, we were still in the game until the 52nd minute when we conceded what I would call a freak goal. After that the heads dropped and Waterford got another straight away. Our best opportunity was when Enda Curran hit the post.”
