New strategy will get people on the buses says Walsh

The new Bus Marketing Strategy for Galway will “ultimately lead to an increase in public transport usage in the city” according to Fine Gael councillor Brian Walsh.

The strategy is a collaboration of the Galway City Council, City Direct, and Bus Éireann, and Cllr Walsh says it will help solve many bus transport problems in the city.

“Confusing routes, poorly laid out timetables and maps are contributing to the decline in Bus usage and this new strategy will address these issues,” he said.

Cllr Walsh said the council will erect new bus shelters in all parts of the city and that the creation of a Galway city bus website, offering real time information, is being looked at. He added: “We also need to look at developing apps suitable for use on iPhone and other hand held devices.”
