B&Q celebrate qualification successes

Celebrating the success of 22 team members being awarded their City and Guilds NVQ in Retail Skills or Home Improvement Knowledge Qualification is B&Q in Knocknacarra.

The qualifications come following a commitment from B&Q earlier this year to invest £1 million in improving the skills of its store teams.

Customers will be able to recognise these employees in store from next month when the City and Guilds qualification will appear on name badges.

Alan Treacy, manager of the B&Q Galway store, says: "We’re delighted to see our colleagues having their training and expertise recognised with these qualifications. Staff name badges will reflect these individual achievements and customers will be able to walk into our store, meet a friendly member of staff and be confident they’re getting expert advice.

“City and Guilds is a powerful message and employees can't achieve the qualifications unless they meet the full criteria as approved by City and Guilds."

In March of this year, B&Q picked up the Global Gallup Great Workplace Award. It is the fourth consecutive year the retailer has won the award and it is the only UK/Irish business awarded. The Gallop Great Workplace Award honours organisations whose employee engagement results demonstrate they have the most productive and engaged workforces in the world.
