Funding announced for work on Clybaun and Rahoon road junction

A grant of €50,000 has been secured for the long awaited road improvement works at the Clybaun Road/Rahoon Road junction.

The money comes from the Department of Transport and will be included in the Galway City Council Roads Transportation Programme 2010.

The announcement of the grant was made at Monday’s city council meeting and was welcomed by Independent councillor Donal Lyons. Cllr Lyons has been lobbying for work to take place at the junction for some time.

“Over the years a number of traffic accidents have occurred at this junction with cars leaving the road as there is no grass verge,” he said. “I want to thank the officials at the Roads and Transportation Department for their help in securing the necessary funding.”

Work on improving the junction will commence later this year.”
