French succeeds Glynn at Mervue

Mervue United has appointed Tom French as the new manager of the club’s League of Ireland first division team.

French, who will take up his post immediately, succeeds Johnny Glynn who resigned last week, to the board on Monday afternoon last. He will be assisted by Brendan O’Connor.

French, who is a former player and juvenile coach with the club, holds a UEFA “A” coaching licence.

“I am really looking forward to the challenge,” French says, “even though it has come as a bit of a surprise to me. I am looking forward to getting started and taking over from the good platform that Johnny has left for me to work on. I will also be looking to improve the squad and build on last season’s finish in the first division.”
