US scientist and sceptic to address NUIG

The prominent American scientist, atheist, and sceptic Prof PZ Myers will be speaking in NUI, Galway on the subjects of evolution and science.

The talk, organised by the NUIG Skeptic Society and Zoology Society takes place in the O’Flaherty Theatre in the university’s main concourse at 6.30pm on Thursday February 4.

Myers is a professor of evolutionary biology at University of Minnesota, Morris, and writes an award-winning science blog Pharyngula, and campaigns against the creationist movement in the US. He was named Humanist of the Year by the American Humanist Association in 2009.

The event is open to both students and the public. Tickets can be purchased from the NUIG Societies Office for €5 or reserved by emailing [email protected]
