Plans for hotel and residential development in Oranmore

Planing permission is being sought for a major residential and commercial development at Oranhill, Oranmore that will include a hotel, more than 160 residential homes, a swimming pool, gymnasium, and public park.

James Cannon has applied to the Galway County Council for permission to modify part of a development scheme known as Coill Clocha which was approved under a previous planning application, in particular sites 22 to 27 to be replaced in the proposed residential development.

In their place, permission is sought for 161 residential units consisting of two three storey buildings containing detached and semi-detached houses, townhouses, apartments, and duplex units and all associated garages and bin stores.

Permission is also sought for two commercial units for use as a convenience shop/hairdresser/butcher, etc, and a unit for use as community meeting rooms.

The application also seeks permission to construct a two-storey over semi-basement hotel with 44 en suite bedrooms, reception areas, function room, restaurant, lounge bar, salon, offices, staff areas, public toilets, kitchen, security office, M&E room, and external storage shed. The proposed semi-basement will contain parking for 54 cars.

Permission is also sought for the construction of a two-storey leisure centre to serve the hotel and residential development, featuring a swimming pool, changing areas, reception, staff room, storage, and gymnasium; surface car parking to serve the hotel and leisure centre and a set down area for the hotel; and all ancillary site works, services roads, footpaths, street lighting, hard and soft landscaping, and level playing areas.

Permission is also sought for a landscaped park area with walking routes, level playing area, picnic tables, children’s playground, and gazebo.

Permission is also sought for the completion of the north-south Oranmore distributor road and to link that road to the roundabout on the roundabout on the N18 and for the construction of an access road to lands to be transferred to the Galway County Council.
