Ireland’s Volvo Round the World yacht, the Green Dragon, is back in its home port after its year-long exploits at sea.
The Volvo Open 70 is now “on a working holiday” at the Galway Atlantaquaria in Salthill and is available for anyone who wishes to get a close-up look.
From now until the end of August visitors can visit Green Dragon on dry land, and view the sparse conditions that the crew endured during the 37,000nm race around the world.
The Green Dragon was one of only four boats to complete all legs of the race, and finished fifth overall. During that time the Dragon claimed three podium places and won supporters around the globe.
The Green Dragon will form part of the Galway Atlantaquaria visitor experience and is presented by Let's Do it Galway in conjunction with the Galway Atlantaquaria, Fáilte Ireland, and Galway City Council. For more details visit http://www.nationalaquarium.ie/
