Salthill Devon travel to neighbours Mayo FC as the battle for top spot in Group 2 heats up.
Group 2 of the FAI National League is as tight as it gets, with all five clubs remaining in contention to finish top. With the three group winners and the best-placed runners-up qualifying for November's semi-finals, each game is crucial.
Greg Cunningham's side return to action off the back of a 1-1 draw away to TU Dublin two weeks ago. This Saturday, they come up against Mayo FC for the second time in a month. That last meeting ended in a comfortable 2-0 victory at NFP Park on September 19.
Mayo FC enter Saturday's contest top of the pile following a 2-0 away victory against TU Dublin last weekend. Salthill Devon are in third on seven points, two points behind Mayo with a game in-hand. That extra game puts Salthill Devon in a position of real strength.
A repeat of the previous meeting against Mayo would be welcome. Goals from Timmy Molloy and Cole Connolly either side of half-time proved the difference on that occasion. The chance to leapfrog their neighbours with an extra game to play cannot be taken for granted.
Saturday represents a massive opportunity for Salthill to have the chance to control their own destiny in their definitive group games.
Kick-off is 2pm at Umbro Park this Saturday afternoon.
