Mervue United return to action away to Home Farm DCU in a crucial meeting in the battle for top spot of Group 1.
Brendan O'Connor's side enter Saturday's fixture in third place on 11 points. Three points ahead of them in first are Saturday's opponents, with Lucan United in second place ahead of Mervue only on goal difference.
With the three group winners and the best-placed runners-up qualifying for November’s semi-finals, every game of the group stage run-in is crucial.
Mervue require no reminding of Home Farm DCU's quality. If their group standing wasn't indication enough, the Dublin-based team beat Mervue 6-1 in the first meeting between these two sides in early September.
Mervue's performances in this National League campaign prove that defeat was an off day. It remains their only defeat to-date, recording two wins and a draw in their following three games.
Their most recent victory was a 6-1 win of their own against Bonagee United a fortnight ago. Mervue led by two at the break via goals from Kody McCann and Gavin Smyth. Smyth grabbed his second of the game after the restart before Lewis Waweru grabbed a brace of his own in the span of eight minutes. Darragh McNamara added their sixth late on.
The Galway side will be desperate to continue their impressive form when they travel to a goal-hungry Home Farm DCU this Saturday afternoon.
Kick-off is 2pm at Whitehall Stadium.
