Ballybane Community Hub has announced a series of upcoming events for the local community, including a Halloween-themed cookery demonstration, free health screening and an evening of classic board games.
The events offer opportunities for people to come together, enjoy new experiences and take advantage of activities and services in their local area.
The Halloween celebrations get underway on Thursday, October 22, with a special cookery demonstration entitled Spooktackler Halloween Special, beginning at 7pm.
Chef Maria McNeela will lead the demonstration, showing participants how to make traditional Irish barmbrack, a favourite Halloween treat, complete with the customary lucky ring hidden inside.
Organisers are inviting people to get into the Halloween spirit and enjoy an evening of baking, fun and Irish tradition. The event promises to be a spooktacular occasion for anyone interested in cookery and seasonal treats.
Also taking place on Thursday, October 22, is a free health screening service at the hub, running from 7.30pm to 9pm.
A registered general nurse specialist will provide free blood pressure and blood glucose checks as part of the walk-in clinic. No appointment is necessary, and the service is open to everyone.
The screening offers an opportunity for people to check two important indicators of their health. High blood pressure and elevated blood glucose can often develop without obvious symptoms, but if left undetected, they can contribute to serious health complications, including heart disease and diabetes.
The service is free and confidential, and local residents are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to have their levels checked.
Meanwhile, those looking for a more relaxed evening can join the next classic board games session at Ballybane Community Hub on Tuesday, October 20, at 6.30pm.
The event welcomes people to enjoy traditional board games in a friendly and sociable setting. Tea, coffee and light refreshments will be provided, making it an ideal opportunity to meet others and enjoy an evening of community activities.
All three events will take place at Ballybane Community Hub, 30 Béal Srutha, H91 TW27. Parking is available adjacent to Ballybane Library.
Everyone is welcome to attend. For further information about any of the events, contact Donal on 087 199 4360.
