STRICT reporting restrictions were imposed when a minor accompanied by his mother appeared before Ballinasloe District Court charged with 34 counts of a sexual nature.
Included in the charges outlined are 18 counts of rape, two counts of downloading child pornography, two counts of possession of child pornography, two counts of threatening to share intimate images, one count of stalking and seven counts of sexual assault.
The defendant appeared before Judge James Faughnan on Thursday last, September 24 in an in-cameral hearing. The courtroom was cleared while Garda Sgt Christy Brown outline the alleged charges.
Sgt Brown asked that along with the usual reporting restrictions designed to protect the identity of any alleged victims that two named counties where offences are alleged to have occurred not be named.
Judge Faughnan acceded to this request and matters were adjourned on strict conditions while the prosecution case continues.
