Galway City Council has launched its new Personal and Community Resilience Booklet, a practical resource designed to help individuals, families and communities prepare for and respond to emergency situations. The booklet offers guidance and support for dealing with a range of emergencies and is aimed at helping people make sensible preparations in advance so they can remain as self-sufficient as possible during an emergency or evacuation.
Prepared by the Community Department of Galway City Council, the booklet contains useful information on household emergency planning, 72-hour preparedness, severe weather readiness, home safety, first aid supplies, community support services and access to reliable emergency information.
Launching the booklet, Galway City Council highlighted the importance of community resilience and preparedness in helping residents, neighbourhoods and local organisations respond effectively when unexpected events occur. The guide encourages households to take small but practical steps now that can make a significant difference during an emergency.
A digital version of the Galway City Personal and Community Resilience Booklet is available to download from the Galway City Council website. Hard copies are also available from local libraries and community centres across the city. Residents can also request a copy by contacting their local Urban and Community Development Officer.
