Four projects in Galway West will receive funding for positive community action, a Fine Gael TD has said. Deputy Seán Kyne said €57,000 will go directly to two projects in Galway City, while Simon Community Galway will receive a share of the €127,300 allocation and Tosú Social Inclusion Ireland in Galway will receive a sum from the €142,500 allocation to strengthen community safety, inclusion and integration.
“I’m delighted to see these projects in Galway West receive funding. The Community Safety Fund helps bring positive change to communities right across the country,” he said. “The Community Safety Fund redirects the proceeds of crime seized by the Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB ) and An Garda Siochana back into communities to help create safer and stronger areas.
“In particular, I’m delighted to see funding of €37,000 for Galway City Partnership CLG Reconnect Youth Ballinfoile: A Youth-Led Community Safety & Wellbeing Initiative, €20,000 for Galway City Local Community Safety Partnership Galway Together – Community Safety, Healthy Ireland and Age Friendly Expo, a share of the €127,300 allocation to Simon Community Galway and Tosú Social Inclusion Ireland in Galway receiving a portion of the €142,500 allocation which will provide a vital service for our community here in Galway West”
Across the country, 56 projects will receive funding from a record €4.84 million investment. Grants ranging from €20,000 to €150,000 have been awarded to the successful projects.
Successful projects will include support for community safety and local engagement, inclusion and integration of minority and marginalised groups, domestic, sexual & gender-based violence, and youth focused community safety.
“The growth of this fund reflects years of work to ensure that crime doesn’t just get punished, but the redirected proceeds also get turned into community action and benefits people in Galway West and across the country.
