Six Family Resource Centres across County Galway are each to receive once-off grants of €10,000 each.
Minister for Education and Youth, Hildegarde Naughton, said this capital funding is flexible so it can be used by each Family Resource Centre for its own priorities.
“This funding will support centres to locally identified capital, premises, equipment, ICT and infrastructure priorities and choose how best to spend that money to benefit the community,” said the Galway West TD.
“Galway’s Family Resource Centres, in Doughiska, Oughterard, Gort, Loughrea, Headford and Tuam, are deeply rooted in their localities and provide essential services to support children and their parents right across the community.”
Across the country, each of Ireland’s 136 Family Resource Centres will be provided with this once-off capital allocation of €10,000 in 2026.
The €10,000 allocation can support a broad range of capital requirements, including minor building works and refurbishment; accessibility, health and safety improvements; ICT hardware and infrastructure; and energy-efficiency or sustainability improvements.
“Centres will now be able to invest this money into the areas that will benefit their communities the most.
“Having seen the work of these centres first-hand, I’m delighted to see this funding and look forward to seeing Family Resource Centres in Galway develop further,” concluded Minister Naughton.
